Tyseley

Tyseley TMD is a railway Traction Maintenance Depot situated in Tyseley, Birmingham.

In August 2020, RMTS was commissioned to replace a thirty year old wheel lathe with a modern CNC equivalent.

Our programme of works included:

  • Working alongside a civil engineering company in order to complete Network Rail civil submissions and complete modifications to the existing foundation to house a new replacement wheel lathe.
  • Disassemble and scrapping of the existing wheel lathe while retaining vital obsolete parts to help keep other machines in the UK running.
  • Following stringent risk assessment procedures, procuring a specialist transport company to move the depot’s existing wheel lathe.
  • Full installation of a new Hegenscheidt wheel lathe, including commissioning, training and handover.
