Neville Hill
Neville Hill is a railway Train Maintenance Depot near Leeds on the Leeds to Selby Line. It is used by East Midlands Trains, Northern Rail and East Coast for maintenance, fueling, cleaning and stabling of trains sets and units.
In 2020 RMTS was commissioned to replace a thirty year old wheel lathe with a modern CNC equivalent into the existing foundation.
Our scope of work included:
- Working alongside a civil engineering company to complete Network Rail civil submissions and modifications to existing foundations to house a new replacement wheel lathe.
- Disassemble and scrapping of the existing wheel lathe while retaining vital obsolete parts to help keep other machines in the UK running.
- Following stringent risk assessment procedures, procuring a specialist transport company to move the existing wheel lathe from the depot.
- Full installation of a new Hegenscheidt wheel lathe, including commissioning, training and handover.
